Cole Merkley brings a wide skill set to his Denturist practice. In addition to 35 years of experience in both Canada and Australia, Cole has also taken advanced training with Dr. John Frush of the Swissedent Foundation in Los Angeles. This training focused on the ‘dentogenics’ concept – the art, practice and technique of creating natural looking teeth with artificial dentures. This training combined with Cole’s own artistic ability has allowed him to develop exceptional skills in “aesthetic restoration” – the ability to make dentures look as natural as possible. With an ability to combine aesthetic restoration with functional excellence, Cole has attracted quite a following over the years with many patients following him throughout his career.
Choosing a Denturist is a very important decision that can affect both the health of your wallet as well as your mouth. It’s a good idea to meet with a number of Denturists in your neighbourhood, ensure they are properly registered and ask them about their education, years of experience and any advanced training they may have as well as any special abilities or skills they bring to their practice. Educating yourself around what work is done on site, what fabrication processes are available, what kinds of materials, equipment and techniques are used, and the availability of wax try-in models are all good starting points. Since it typically takes 4-6 appointments for most complete dentures, finding someone you feel comfortable with who can also explain your particular dental situation, answer questions and, clarify answers if necessary is also critical.
